Pistachios, Almonds eucalyptus trees and Buck Owens!

Pistachios, Almonds, Eucalyptus Trees and Buck Owens!
What do all these things have in common? Bakersfield California that’s what! As we approached Bakersfield I was reminded of it's native son - the great country star Buck Owens (I've got a Tiger by the Tail) and so many others from this era. But the landscape in this super dusty, patched valley is dominated by big agriculture. Miles upon miles of perfectly spaced trees bearing pistachios, almonds, and so much more of our earth's bounty. We made it just past Bakersfield out to our stop for the night ,and fittingly, we stayed at a place called The Orange Grove RV Park. Here, you literally set up camp between orange trees. Pretty cool idea! The temp was in the 90’s when we cranked up the AC. . night night…. tomorrow it’s time to drive through the desert!

If you're REALLY BORED here's some more info on Bakersfield.

Bakersfield is a significant hub for both agriculture and energy production. Kern County is the most productive oil-producing county in California and the fourth-most productive agricultural county (by value) in the United States.Industries in and around Bakersfield include natural gas and other energy extraction, mining, petroleum refining, distribution, food processing, and corporate regional offices. Not a bad place to go to work! The city is also the birthplace of the country music genre known as the Bakersfield sound.
